Mike uses official NOAA/NWS information and posts it with minimal superfluous analysis or fearmongering you may get on other news/weather sites. Of course always refer to the official and original source, but Mike always uses it as a foundation. As such, Mike is a trustworthy and reliable place to keep a track of things.
Not sure what physics. The earth's tilt changing how much sunlight the hemispheres get in a day. That's what causes the seasonal crests/trophs in oceanic temperatures. For the chart to be offset by a few months, the actual daylight hours we get would also need to be offset by a few months.

Americanwx forums used to get pretty active with some detailed discussions during hurricanes. Not sure if they get as much activity as they used to though. I think Facebook groups, reddit, and discord type places have killed all the old school forums in general. This subreddit's own Discord is much more active and has really good discussions ...
