Fitbit sets a default stride length based on your height, etc but you can adjust it. On phone app, tap the 'days of exercise' tile, then gear icon near top right to get to stride length setting. The most accurate way to get stride length would be on a measured course such as a lap on a running track, to measure number of steps to walk one lap.
My Alta HR has a solid green light whether I am wearing it or not. I have turned off the heart rate option and the green light remains solid. I have attempted to reset the Fitbit with no resolution. Thr solid green light is very disruptive to my sleep. It is my hope that an update is released soon...
