In this case I'd expect a !fakepayment one: He'd send you a fake email pretending to be from your bank or from PayPal, and tell you where to send money to the "courier". Reply reply.
Gumtree won't let me post ad with new account. When I post any ad with my newly opened account the ad gets automatically removed even though it didnot violated any rules. Why are they doing this? I sell stuff on Gumtree a couple times a year and while there's always a couple of tyre-kickers and lowballers, for the most part as long as you agree on a price beforehand and insist on cash on pickup - and are honest about the condition of your item (lots of photos, no surprises) - then it's no more or less risky than any other marketplace.
