r/place was a recurring collaborative project and social experiment hosted on the content aggregator site Reddit. Originally launched on April Fools' Day 2017, it has since been repeated again on April Fools' Day 2022 and on July 20, 2023.
Users used r/place to voice their discontent with Reddit CEO Steve Huffman. On July 20, Reddit began its third iteration of r/place, an interactive canvas in which users can only place one pixel every 5 minutes, announcing it one day earlier. Normally, r/place takes place every five years since April 1, 2017.
