Incredible selections. Diamond Liquors is the only NJ liquor store I know of that does growler pours also you can take any can or bottle out of 6/4 pack and make your own six. Kind of grungy store but Incredible selection. Valley Wines & Spirits in the great metropolis of Pennington, NJ also does growler pours.
Have your driver stop at CVS at Paradise and Harmon. It's a ghetto store, with exactly the kind of selection you'd expect from a CVS, and it's right on the way. Ottos is pretty good, I’ve only been to the one on Oakland. I travel 200 miles 2-3 per year to visit Discount Liquor on Oklahoma. Usually drop $400-$500 and head back up north. Lots of great accessories for Bloodys, great prices (especially on gift sets in the fall).
Most stores, regardless of location, are 1) out of stock, 2) have very inflated prices (if legally permitted), or 3) are a random small town liquor store that just hasn’t sold out yet because all anybody buys there is handles of Jack and Captain Morgan.

Their Kirkland Signature alcohols (domestic/import vodka, tequila, rum..) are really good too. A 1.75L bottle of their domestic vodka is 13.99.
Astor Liquor in Manhattan has a good selection and I haven't found their markup to awful. I will caveat that this is for scotch and scotch whiskey. If your looking for whisky and bourbon it may really be hit or miss I have seen Weller from $100 (msrp $29.99), pappy 10 for $600 etc. Happy hunting. 2.
I usually go to BQE Wine and Liquors, it's a discount liquor store. It's On Meeker and Humboldt in Greenpoint/East Williamsburg. Their scotch and whiskeys selection is jaw dropping, and occasionally undercuts VT and NH state liquor store prices on some items. Their rum section leaves something to be desired, but I'm also a rum nut.
Not sure how far north you’re willing to go, but Shopping Center Wine & Liquor next to Kohl’s in Cortlandt Manor has a great selection and great prices. I also like BevMax in Danbury, CT, near the Danbury mall. Bonus you can also purchase any kind of beer or IPA there. It’s huge and they have a vast selection.
