Laptops will generally start to die after 3 years anyway unless there rarely used so i wouldnt say it was value for money. The 3 year cover itself should be cheapest from either HP or the likes of Misco etc who can package them as part of the laptop.

    forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2028817

I bought a HP DV9000 in December 2007. It came with a 1 year warranty, I choose not to spend £200 on the "whatever happens" insurance or an extended warranty. About a month ago I started getting problems, hundred of vertical lines come down my screen- it is impossible to read the screen, and it has a red/green tint to it.

11 October 2007 at 4:46PM. L&G are not bad as a stakeholder provider. Your £200pm contribution really deserves a personal pension rather than stakeholder (even more so if you intend to transfer the old schemes over). L&G service is on the poor side generally. Not the worst but they have been poor on the service side this year.

Most causes of the Laptop fan running constantly can be traced down to high CPU utilization caused by Windows updates or other applications. If a new laptop is loaded with fodder that can be deleted and updating then it will settle down and doesn't really mean the goods do not conform to the contract.

Laptop screen packed in flextronics want £200 quid to fix it. I purchased a HP pavillion laptop 4 months ago. Last week, I switched it on to find a horizontal and vertical band across the screen and the colour fading and darkening. There appeared to be a pin head dot at the very top of where the lines started from, right at the top of the screen.
