You would be better off with a dedicated $100 set of computer speakers and then a home theater setup for the TV (or even a soundbar). There are quite a few nice used PC speakers on craigslist at big discounts. I have seen speakers that were originally 2-300 with $50 prices.

I have a sounds card to utilize this for my PC, but I'm now wondering if there is a way to stream the PS3 sound in 5.1 surround sound with the same 5.1 speakers. I've looked a little at receivers and it seems like you need something that can handle the 5.1 technology.

The mixer would allow you to listen to both PC and Turntable simultaneously if required for some reason but otherwise the DAC is better. I know of someone who used that Behringer mixer to mix 2 computers at once through a pair of headphones. 1 PC was a dedicated streaming/broadcast machine with Microphone, the other was his gaming PC.

  6. Do I need a new sound card with my new speakers? (computer)

Pc's are low level output devices, you need to supply power somehow, somewhere. The Logitech speakers are powered. Plug a cord to the wall and the signal from the pc. The Klipsh are unpowered. For those speakers you need an external power source, like an audio amplifier or tuner (radio set to aux input).

Jul 25, 2016. #4. you absolutely need an amplifier capable of driving the speakers. your first assumption was right pc->amp->speakers. speakers require much more power to drive than headphones. the only speakers onboard can power are 2-3w pc speakers. you will notice that all other pc speakers are self powered ...
