The Professionals (band) The Professionals was an English punk rock band active from 1979 to early 1982 and again from 2015 to 2024. They were formed by ex- Sex Pistols members Steve Jones and Paul Cook after that band's demise. [ 1] The Professionals split in 1982, before reforming in 2015 under the leadership of Cook.

The Professionals is the second album of the rock band the Professionals, released in 1997. [1] Recorded as their debut album and scheduled for release in 1980 by Virgin Records , a legal dispute with bassist Andy Allan over unpaid royalties led to the album being scrapped and re-recorded as I Didn't See It Coming .

The band's American tour to promote the album was cut short when band members Cook, Paul Myers, and Ray McVeigh were injured in a car crash. [8] [9] While The Professionals did return to America in the Spring of 1982 after recovery, Jones and Myers' drug problems further hampered the band's prospects. [10]
The other group featured William Hart with new members. Line-ups would become confusing as members shifted between groups and multiple groups toured. [11] Major Harris moved to Hart's group around 1980, with their third member being the returning Randy Cain. Frank Washington also switched from Wilbert Hart's group, joining in 1985.
The band released two EPs titled The Beaches (2013) and Heights (2014) before signing to Universal Records. In 2017, they released their debut album Late Show, which led to the band winning the 2018 Juno Award for Breakthrough Group of the Year.
