If you want to have your Verizon/AOL e-mail work fine in both apps you need to follow the steps outlined in that post which includes logging into your AOL account and requesting a password for whichever one specific mail app you request it for .
This actually means AOL, since AOL handles email for Verizon. Anyway, I tried following the screen instructions and doing what I have done in my old computer and Droid phone, but nothing works. The choices for "manual setup" don't even include AOL as a choice with Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.
Hi Lori. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you. This is a known issue after a recent WIndows Update. Mail app shows certain emails as code. It's is corrected by opening the email from the provider's website in a browser. We are waiting to hear when this should be fixed but hopefully it won't be long now.
Will Windows 8.1 and Internet Explorer 11 work well with AOL 9.6? I am still preparing to update to 8.1. I want everything to work fine after the download. For this purpose, I have been asking many questions ahead of time. I have seen a lot a posts discussing incompatibility between a different version of AOL and Windows 8.1, and that worries me.
