The panels we had installed (q-cell 340s) are meant to work with the Zep Solar mounting. The array skirts are part of their system. Zep was I think designed, patented and owned by Solar City that was acquired by Tesla, so all inhouse materials now. Not surprised the system has specialty tools for installation. S.

The frame of the roof, columns and foundation has to be solid and probably in steel: ~$1k. The solar panel on the roof will have the size of 6 x IBC Poly 275 CS5 (992mm x 1650 mm), just to have some comparison Tesla should match: ~ $1k. Battery, charger, inverter and all other electronics should fit into the frame of the foundation: ~$1k.

Sep 1, 2022. #1. I'm building a detached ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) in the back yard. Main house has a 100A main electrical panel with solar panels (not Tesla) that has Enphase microinverters. I will be installing additional Tesla solar panels and 3 Powerwalls for the ADU. Tesla designed the system based on existing 100A panel.

They then upped the estimate to wanting $6k to reinstall the old panels with new railings. At that point, I decided to just get them replaced. New Tesla panels with 1.5kW additional capacity is $7k after tax rebate (other installers were about $10-12k and only wanted to do even larger systems I don't need).
I'm kicking myself for not replacing my roof before solar panels also! Tesla is quoting me over $11,000 to get 12 panels removed & reinstalled!!! During the sales process i was told removal & re-installation would cost about $1000. Unfortunately, I don't have the in writing.
