Figured out a way to show skins on 1.17.1 multiplayer aternos server. so the first thing you do is install spigot as your software, if you don't want to lose the world just download the world change the software and reupload the world. After that go to plugins and search change skin and then add the 3.0 version of it to the server.

You can also find skin mod, but it's client-side meaning only player with same mod can view your skin. TLauncher skin also considered as client-side skin mod but most players on cra*ked server use it.

Sorry for late reply. You could use SKLauncher or TL legacy made by the original tlauncher creator. I have been having the same issue and was searching if it was due to some mods or problems with tlauncher itself. Thanks, now i know where to look at.
