I don’t think L would go down the same path as Light if he got the Death Note instead, but if he did kill with the death note he would never be caught. I could picture L finding the death note and using it to kill Near and Mellow and anyone who knew him so he could try living a normal life. I would read that spin-off.

L was completely fine with sacrificing of people to solve a case. He drove A the top student of whammies house who was meant to be his successor to kill himself because of the pressure he put on him.
