South Africa, officially the Republic of South Africa (RSA), is the southernmost country in Africa.It is bounded to the south by 2,798 kilometres (1,739 mi) of coastline that stretches along the South Atlantic and Indian Ocean; [18] [19] [20] to the north by the neighbouring countries of Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe; and to the east and northeast by Mozambique and Eswatini.
The South African rand, or simply the rand, ( sign: R; code: ZAR[ a]) is the official currency of South Africa. It is subdivided into 100 cents (sign: "c"), and a comma separates the rand and cents.
The area is known for its scenic beauty with basalt rock formations, river gorges, and grasslands. It is rich in biodiversity, in particular in numerous plant and bird species. The San people, who lived in the area for more than four millennia, created rock art depicting humans and animals. There are around 690 sites with rock art in the park.

It was allocated the number range 9000–9299. Following independence, use of the South African postal code system was discontinued.
