GT3 Cup: a single make race car version of the 911 with minimal aero and Nannies. Not street legal 911 GT3.R: a race car only 911 made to meet fia / SRO GT3 requirements, notably lots of Aero. A 911 C2 is roughly an M440i, stingray, or an S4 A C2S is roughly an M4, Z51 Stingrsy or an RS4. In terms of performance Vs comfort.
Comes with a high-output, high-revving, naturally aspirated flat 6 engine, a stiff track-like suspension, weight reduction over a Carrera or turbo, etc. All GT3s are RWD. GT3 RS - A more extreme version of the GT3. Even lighter, even more powerful, even faster. GT2 - Turbocharged track/performance-oriented 911.
However, with 360bhp and 317ft-lbs on tap, the 718 GTS was as quick or quicker than the previous generation (981) Cayman GT4, and featured improved steering feel. Stylistically, the 718 is again an evolution of the previous model. The interior is well appointed, and fairly similar to the 981 and 991 Cayman and 911.

The 924 was the first to really use this style. All the 924 models have a design number. 931 for the turbo, 932 for a RHD turbo, 933 for a D-production racecar, 937 for the Carrera GT but they are all still 924s. Can some explain the Porsche naming convention, all 911s are branded 911 but Porsche people call them 997s or 996.
