forums.anandtech.com/threads/good-place-to-get-a-cheap-car-battery.2485562

    16. Sep 9, 2016. #7. $48.88?! Thats pretty dirt cheap. Also another extreme cheap route I done a couple times is hit up a local junk yard and check out their "pulled batteries" section. I grab a Autocraft yellow top in the past and drop it off at advance auto for them to recharge it. I knew the guy who work at Advance auto so I knew he wouldn't ...

  3. How can I daisy chain car batteries? - AnandTech Forums

    forums.anandtech.com/threads/how-can-i-daisy-chain-car-batteries.2174594

They're putting battery banks in the trunk, run the amp from the battery bank, then run something like a #2 from the from the starter battery to the battery bank and use that for charging. Just throw in a big inverter and that would be the ultimate camping car  waffleironhead said: ice is cheap.

  4. Is ebay a good place to buy a laptop battery?

    forums.anandtech.com/threads/is-ebay-a-good-place-to-buy-a-laptop-battery.2281231

Most places will call a battery 'new' if it hasn't been removed from its original packaging, which unfortunately won't help you because batteries begin to degrade at manufacture. I have purchased a few 'new' batteries for a very old (2007-era) laptop and even though they are OEM and in original unopened packaging, are all dead.

  5. Cheap eBay 9v alkaline battery lasted 9 years in smoke detector

    forums.anandtech.com/threads/cheap-ebay-9v-alkaline-battery-lasted-9-years-in...

The best part is that they take AA batteries instead of 9V batteries. There is no logical reason a smoke detector would need a 9v battery. I have the voice detectors that scream at you and sound an alarm that even a deaf person could hear. It gives you an audible warning to change the batteries every couple of years. The bonus is no false alarms.

  6. can i trust ebay sellers for laptop batteries?

    forums.anandtech.com/threads/can-i-trust-ebay-sellers-for-laptop-batteries.2182208

bought two batteries for my Thinkpad over the past 3 years from two entirely different ebay vendors. Both batteries have been fine. Lithiums only last 2-3 years as their lifespan is dictated by time not usage, so the concern is that you may be buying an "new old stock" battery. But I have had good luck. A+++++ would buy again.

  7. Rechargeable AA batteries suddenly can't hold charge? EDIT 2: Is...

    forums.anandtech.com/threads/rechargeable-aa-batteries-suddenly-cant-hold...

Simply put: get an expensive charger. You can put a car battery on a trickle charge for 6 months and it's fine. NiMH batteries absolutely will not tolerate overcharge unless it's at a very very low current. Using a simple time based charger with no intelligence is a great way to kill the batteries in a short time.

  8. Cheap DIY Car Subwoofer with Logitech Computer Sub

    forums.anandtech.com/threads/cheap-diy-car-subwoofer-with-logitech-computer...

I've also tried this with the Z-2200's 8" sub, and it worked out quite well too. The 8" sub can really pound, as owners will attest. For only $50, it's one HELL of a deal for a cheap car sub that'll add fullness to your music. The Z-2200 sub also had the ability to vibrate the rearview mirrors and sideview mirrors.

  9. Chinese Laptop Batteries - AnandTech Forums

    forums.anandtech.com/threads/chinese-laptop-batteries.2282158

Cheap chinese made battery in phone = no explosions. Works fine Cheap chinese made battery in laptop = no explosions. Works fine Keep in mind that phone is old and outdated and laptop is old and creaky so its no big loss for me if either goes kaplooey.

  10. Can you take apart Zip Zaps and replace the battery?

    forums.anandtech.com/threads/can-you-take-apart-zip-zaps-and-replace-the...

Yep it's entirely possible. They take 1/3 AAA Ni-MH batteries IIRC. Probably have to look in a hobby shop to find them. If you're looking for more ZZ stuff, I have a couple cars and a bunch of accessories I'd be willing to part with on the cheap if interested.

  11. Panasonic Toughbook dead batteries, battery conditioning

    forums.anandtech.com/threads/panasonic-toughbook-dead-batteries-battery...

A huge problem I am having is keeping the batteries in good condition. Because they need to stay mobile with the Toughbooks for hospital and patient signatures, the Tougbook is constantly being put on and pulled off of the charger. Over time these batteries lose thier ability to hold a full charge and only last <20min at "100%" charge.
