My Duolingo English Test experience - September 2023. Discussion. Hello everyone! I recently took the DET (Duolingo English Test) last week and scored 150/160. I wanted to share my experience here, as it might benefit others in the future. Before registering for the test, I had read previous experiences shared on Reddit as well.
If the English in your post is anything to go by, you were unlucky not to get 160/160! Duolingo used to accept other forms of Id cards, but they now require a passport. I took the Duolingo English Test yesterday. It was my first attempt and I got a certified overall result of 155/160. I got the result exactly eleven….
First of all, this is completely my experience and yours might be different because exam is an adaptive one and you get harder questions if you answer most of the questions that you face-up correctly. To prepare, I took 4 mock tests (from test site) which estimately graded me as 125-145, 105-145, 105-140 and 100-140 if I remember correctly.
Yeah I get your point. You can only take your test on computer not on mobile. I did research beforehand , the Duolingo English test software doesn’t allow any of that to prevent you from cheating. You won’t notice if you miss-spelled something because there’s no auto-correct or any word suggesting feature. Thanks for your comment!

If your work involves Japanese at all, it's sometimes a benchmark for applicants (usually this is N3 and up). I took N5 last December and am on the last checkpoint of Duolingo, I think it's a lofty claim to suggest you can pass N5 on Duolingo alone. It doesn't teach enough kanji or vocabulary to pass comfortably, imo.
