Just noticed that Drake is having a clearance sale on his 40 Ford parts. Seems all is discontinued. Deep discounts, never to be made again. I am not really a 40 Ford guy, but it is sad to see it didn't work out for Mr. Drake. I doubt that he will break even on that project.

Maryland. Maryland HAMBers. The DOG - Deuce Owner's Group. Fat Fords from 1935-1948. 1940 Ford. Roadsters. That would really be a shock as Drake has been developing this project for such a long time. If it's true, there must be some extenuating circumstances. Hope someone knows the whole story.

In 1932 Ford went to an ancestral form of the 140, the beginning of modern EP extreme pressure goo to cope with spiral and the later and even more frictive hypoid rears...This is in the owner's manuals, the '32 stuff was a higher number than 140 (don't remember exactly) and was replaced with modern 90 or 140 grades for all service requirements ...

  9. Why did Bob Drake Stop Making 33 34 Ford Running Boards

    www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/why-did-bob-drake-stop-making-33-34-ford...

It was a project that he had worked toward for years. Perhaps it was too ambitious, perhaps funding dried up, who knows the whole story, but I commend him for doing something that was truly monumental when you consider all that was involved in bringing the project to fruition. lothiandon1940, Dec 16, 2021.

  11. Technical Drake's 40 Ford hood ornament - The Jalopy Journal

from Foxfield, Co. I used a Drake on my '40 and I had to sand the inside radius a bit to make it fit right, but it eventually did. I also found that on the very front nose of the hood, it makes a big difference if the area where the screw goes is bent in or out as needed to make the ornament fit right. Small changes at the front end made mine work.
