Just look at the screen and read aloud. Your operating system might have a function to assist. Look in your operating system admin for settings related to ease of access, accessibility, etc. Text to speech is not built-in to LibreOffice. The extension centre has a couple of extensions to assist in aiding the text to speech process.

Once the tools are ready (styles and templates), you only concentrate on the content and let Writer do the formatting.
Normal text flow for columns is down the left column until the end of the column and then back to the top of the right column. To go directly to the right column select the menu items Insert > Manual Break … > Column break. I think I solved the problem. Instead of working with columns, I’ll just use a text frame. Just figured how to horizontally centre-align an image in my writer document. Drag and drop the image on to the page and resize if needed. Make sure the image is selected. The Anchor icon appears in the ‘Ribbon’ menu bar → further along is an ‘Align’ button, click on the down arrow next to it and alignment options appear.
