After a great deal of planning and renovations they opened Brian E. Wood Funeral Home in December of 2003. Brian, Betty and their staff served the community with care and compassion for 16 years. In November of 2019 John and Sandy McGlynn purchased the funeral home.
John passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side on Monday, January 10th, 2022. Born on January 5, 1938 in Tara, John Bruce Purdy of Owen Sound and formerly of Tara, was 84 years old. Dearly loved husband of Marlene Purdy (nee Price) for 63 years.
In keeping with Tim’s wishes, cremation is taking place. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. George’s Anglican Church, Owen Sound and Owen Sound Hospital Foundation are appreciated.

A come and go memorial visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to G & B House Owen Sound are appreciated.

Traditionally, a burial service involves a visitation and is followed by a funeral service. While the casket is typically present at both these events, it is your decision whether to have the casket open. You then have a number of options for interment.

Drive through the downtown of Owen Sound, over the river and turn right onto 2nd Avenue West. Turn left at the next traffic lights onto 14th Street West.
