The Michigan State University Men's Volleyball Club was founded in the late 1950s and revived as a registered student organization at Michigan State University in 1987. It is currently a founding member of the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association ("MIVA"), and registered with the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation ("NCVF").
Chuck Erbe era. Chuck Erbe was the first male head coach of the Michigan State women's volleyball team, coaching for 12 seasons. His teams participated in the NCAA tournament in ten of those seasons.
