Pre 2013 transmission failures are very rare as are Toyota hybrid transmissions. In 50 years you ought to be able to salvage a perfectly serviceable hybrid transmission from the unrecognizable rusty hulk of most Ford/Toyota hybrids. Ford screwed up big time. They probably tried to save $3 on a bearing from an Asian supplier.

Last Activity: October 9, 2018. Report post. Posted October 2, 2018. Hello all, I'm considering purchasing a used 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid with 172,000 miles. I'm somewhat concerned that Consumer Reports showed lots of problems with the fuel system that year, and cars.usnews.com shows that year as having less than average reliability.
Posted June 21, 2017 (edited) Markd85/Others, These is the same noise my 2013 Fusion Hybrid is making. It doesn't vary when to shift but it whirs with engine speed. Started as a low volume noise and has gotten a lot louder. I learned from a car shop this one doesn't have a serpentine belt or idler pulley.
Keep gear shift in park position. 3. Turn the ignition to the ON position with engine OFF. 4. Within 5 seconds of ignition on, fully apply the accelerator pedal and hold for ten seconds. 5. Within 5 seconds release the accelerator pedal and shift the transmission to drive (remember the engine should be off) 6.
Posted January 18, 2013 (edited) I changed my oil in the 2013 FFH for the first time today, here are a couple points that will interest those who change their own oil. - Gone are the thick plastic covers for the drain plug and oil filter from the 2010 that needed a 7mm and 10mm socket/nut driver to remove.
My 2013 Fusion Hybrid, built 10/31/2012, was making this grinding noise, seemingly when the regen braking was active. It also started a loud whine when coming to a stop. I drove it that way for about 1000 miles and took it to the dealer with 96,750 miles on the car.
Open the hood and connect a 12 volt source of power to the terminals as indicated in the Owner's manual. The positive is covered by a red flexible cover and is located near the fuse boxes. The negative is a bolt directly behind the positive terminal that is sticking up out of the shock absorber tower.
The additional travel of 1-2 inches feels to many like the brakes have failed including early Consumers Reports car reviewers who had computer brake failures on early 2010 FFH's caused by a software problem. Move your seat forward a little and see if that helps you push the pedal farther. These failures are rare.
