2,024. Mar 5, 2024. #6. Helix works fine. IRs make all the difference and buying some 3rd party ones at a pretty small cost is worth it, with any modeler or profiler that can separate amp from cab. Fractal has better effects than helix but is harder to program and I’m not convinced the actual amps sound better.
The Helix was released in June 2015--not quite 7 years ago. Line 6 reps on this forum have made it very clear there will be no Helix 2, and plan to continue supporting the Helix family for a good long while to come. There have been hints of some new hardware besides just the Catalyst amp, but we don't know what it is yet, and it's not a Helix 2.
Sounded similar in low vol, but huge diff when using medium vol. Surprise by the video result. When I loaded IR into Helix, Podhd was too far behind. I have to say, it took a while to learn how to use the stock cab in helix. Now, I can get the stock cab sounding similar to IR (Ownhammer).
Apr 26, 2019. #1. Here is the next part in my Dialing In... series for our Line 6 Helix. This episode is dealing with an amp that is one of the few models in the Helix that I have not created a tone for, the Jazz Rivet 120, which is a model of the Roland Jazz Chorus 120. It is an amp that was used by many players over the years.
Longtime L6/Helix user. Have had the Helix since 2017 or so. I absolutely love the thing, but I'm curious to hear opinions from anyone who's switched to the Tonemaster. I mainly use clean, semi-dirty, and dirty rock, fusion and blues tones. And mostly keep the effects pretty conventional, i.e. chorus, trem, basic delays, reverb, Lesile, etc.
Go consumes even less power than Stomp. I have a wireless THR10II incoming, so I'd presumably be able to gig very small stages (which I do occasionally) with all the capabilities of the Go and completely cord-free. The Helix LT benefits (for me) come entirely down to more tone-building capabilities.
Jun 11, 2015. #8. With $1499 price tag, I'm waiting for people starting war while comparing it with axe fx/kemper/amplifire. It looks solid, I'm waiting for detailed review.
The helix is $1500. The boss has two simple screens, the helix has one screen with color. The helix has the color interface with pre/post chains, the boss reminds me of the screens on the roland synth floor units. Both have stereo out. The boss has 1 effects loop, the helix has 4 effects loops. Not sure if either have computer editing, but that ...
Helix models specific real-world effects devices, while the GT is more generic and idealized for each effect category. For example, Helix has both opto and bias flavors of tremolo, while GT has just "tremolo" which has a lot of control over the wave form and sounds great, but won't get the feel of a bias trem.
1,411. Jun 27, 2018. #1. So at long last, I am getting to a Dialing In... video for what I now realize to be an incredible amp model, the Ben Adrian Cartographer! Before this, I spent VERY little time with this model and read over and over all the folks on the forums raving about it. I now see why and wished I hadn't waited so long to dive into ...
