I have followed the steps in the first link but have not installed Malwarebytes Free yet. I was waiting to see if the McAfee renewal pop-up is gone. So far so good!

Locate the McAfee and Norton and toggle their button to off. Close the settings. You should stop getting notifications from those app after restarting your computer.
