The search box provides search (powered by Bing) and URL suggestions. The desktop search bar automatically opens at startup by default in Windows 10. You can use the WebWidgetAllowed policy to completely disable the Microsoft Edge desktop search bar if wanted.

Since the search doesn't remain in the search bar, it redirects me to the Bing inspiration feed. I am having a slightly different but similar issue. I am having a similar issure. I type in my query and Bing pulls up the search results but Bing immediately highlights my query for replacement.
See the screen capture. This annoying Bing Search bar keeps appearing everything I start Edge, and there's no option I can find to remove it or completely uninstall it. When I right-click on the icon in the task bar, I get two options: "open windows search bar" and "quit".

Thank you for your information. Please check if your "See search suggestions as you type" is checked on your search settings on Bing. Go to Bing homepage> Click on the three bars in the upper right corner of the page> Click settings> Click More in the drop-down menu> Locate the Search Suggestions > If it was unchecked, please check it > Click save
Typing in the bing search box brings up suggestions or Trending and it works for a few minutes but then stops working again. A few minutes later and it comes up with a full list of suggestions and if I select Remove, that now removes the suggestion and then I can use bing OK, but then it stops working again.
Currently, the search bar always redirects to Bing, even if you remove it from the search engines list in the edge settings. You can make the search bar not exist and clicking into it will just take you up to the address bar, but in my opinion this operation is not at all visually appealing.
To reach the DDG search engine page, I have to click on the DDG link shown under the search box. After changing the default search engine to DDG (as shown in my previous messg), I should get the DDG search page upon clicking on New Tab, which is what I want. Instead, I continue to get the Bing search page above. Again, thanks so much for your time.
