Scheels rods are pretty good for there price point only thing I have found is they change out and drop rods on a whim. Purchased 2 10 foot trolling rods. Well the tip got broke on one they were good at replacing it but did not have the same rod in the same action, so now I have mix matched rods.

Fleet Farm is my in-person destination every few weeks or so for miscellaneous stuff, and Cabelas was my former everything destination prior to 2011 or so when I first noticed things eroding. Just checked them out in St cloud, nice hard case for $129 but a little big for me. They had a nice assortment of other ice rod cases also. I did check out the TUCR display and it was fully stocked. They had all the ice fishing stuff stocked and ready to go. I wash they had a Scheels in the cities, I think they put Gander and Cabala’s to shame.
Scheels for me growing up was a cool store but with no name brand/quality items…you could buy bats, balls, and gloves, but it wasn’t the best quality. I’m not really looking for that anymore, but it seems like the selection has improved.

Stock Christensen CA-15 Recon, used, $2300. I paid $1700 brand new for mine. DDs we're $1400 used when they were $1200 brand new, etc.
Scheels may just give you a new one, instead of a warranty process. For a reel in the $100 range, exc for casting lighter lures distance, it’s a good choice. Thank you, Steve for the in-depth analysis. I have to say, the Stradic is also going to be purchased before spring rolls though. I grabbed two of the new Scheels brand reels listed before.
I bought the Scheels rod based on the over-the-counter warranty. Definitely wasn’t my first choice of rods, but after seeing the hoops needed to jump through with the others in the $100-$200 range, I’ll stick local. Time may tell if Scheels is good for the warranty. The tags say Lifetime on manufacturer defects.
