Geek Squad is the department that fulfills your Total Tech. It’s like roadside assistance from AAA. Roadside assistance gives you jump starts, flat repair, emergency gas, etc, but it’s provided by AAA. The name of the service has changed from Black Tie Support to 24/7 Support to Total Tech Support and Tech Support but Geek Squad has always ...
Because my last tv bricked at 3 years, I purchased the 5-year geek squad protection. The delivery guy convinced me to switch from that to TotalTech (it was on sale, and installation would be refunded, etc..), claiming that after 24 months I can continue to pay month to month for continued coverage indefinitely.
It doesn’t cover any software services at Geek Squad like factory resets, data transferring, diagnostics, tune-ups, OS reinstalls, etc. TotalTech, by contrast, allows you to perform all included GeekSquad services for the membership fee and it also gives you 24 months of GSP on any devices bought at BestBuy while using TotalTech.
You sell 1 service really (total tech support) and that 1 service covers all the work we would do in house. I loved when I was a CA, to me I enjoy being the face that people come and see when they are at their lowest point. Most people come see geek squad when they have been scammed by “Microsoft” or “Apple”.
Geek Squad Agent here, with the purchased standalone warranty you get two years protection on that one device and that device only. If you need repair, you would not owe any deductible since you essentially prepaid for it. With total membership, you get 2 year protection on any device you purchase as Best Buy as long as you remain a TT member.
Total tech requires a deductible usually. Geek squad does not usually. Total tech gives you 2 years of credits essentially, but you can continue the coverage after 24 months by assuming the ~$6/mo cost. Geek squad I believe terminated after the contract term and I do not believe you can re-up or continue after. Please correct me if I’m wrong
I remember less than 5 years ago, GS Online support was located in the USA. Now, whenever I call in, I get out on hold forever and there's an Indian guy that barely speaks English. Such a downgrade in quality. Makes me feel crumby for recommending all those Tech Support plans that I sold when I still worked at Geek Squad.
r/GeekSquad is a 100% community-driven subreddit aimed to allow for both clients and employees to engage in meaningful conversations regarding the brand or their local precinct.
Generally speaking we should charge for any service at the front of geek squad for clients without an active membership, but it can also be at the agents discretion based on the work performed. I basically explained to the client “yes, we can assist with troubleshooting the speaker, but it will be a wait as I’m currently helping these ...
This "expert" then charged them $350 for a support plan, remoted into the PC with LMI, installed some bogus antivirus and other junkware, and didn't actually fix the email issue. Here's the real tragedy: I noticed on the desk a Geek Squad bus. card from an agent who isn't with the company anymore.
