Not a "nice sit down place" but we found a couple of good "get & go" food joints in the little town of Cottonwood Shores (2 miles due east of the Horseshoe Bay resort on the little FM road that runs between HB & Marble Falls).
If you have the time and money, it might be worth it to eat inside the Opryland Hotel. Certainly would be a beautiful place...but it does get pricey in there. 01-22-2013, 08:44 AM
Best place to eat? (Norristown, Butler: living, restaurant, pub) ... but I'd like to know what is a good ...
Another place I forgot to mention earlier is Bella Forte Glass Studio/Italian Jim's Restaurant in downtown Edmond. This is a really cool new place which is an Italian restaurant that is connected to a glass blowing studio. The food is very good, great pizzas etc and you can watch glass being blown while you wait for your table.

It seems to me that you could start off by walking around the colonnade part and see what place strikes your collective fancy. There are places to eat in. Or if the weather is nice, grab takeout and sit outside to eat. And the stroll will help burn off some of the 8 year old's energy. And go to a different place for dessert.
I'll make sure I don't sit next to you, Texas 7. I appreciate all the ideas. The carved sandwiches do sound good. Don't they have a bar-be-cue baked potato place somewhere as well? Or am I thinking of a different place? I agree that hot dogs are the best at a game, however, it always seems like each ball park has one specialty item.
I don't know what the state of locally owned dining was as a kid because we didn't eat much of it. With a few exceptions, I still don't care for chains. I had to run errands tonight, and stopped at a Buffalo Wild Wings. $37 for twelve bone in wings, a small dry, and two Bud Lights. I could have a good meal at a locally owned place for that.
