30 votes, 75 comments. true. avast anti virus free once wrecked my pc over more than half a year ago i had it on for a year and a half but it suddenly kept on crashing my pc, at every 10-15 min at least once a bsod. after some searching i found out it was avast and uninstalled it, and the pc acted normal again since. it appeared that at every scan avast would make the computer would bsod.
