Finance is a an inverted branch so fewer requirements at the O1/O2 level then more requirements at the O3 level. DA PAM 600-3 specifically mentions having a degree in business or accounting and definitely seems they weigh more to accounting than what the VMI EC/BU program does (which is set you up for a MBA).

Oct 30, 2012. #3. kinnem, those slides describe Branching, but not Branch Detail, which is a completely separate process. MI, Signal, AG, Chem Corps are a few of the branches that can have a detail. 3) Yes you can sign for both. Branch detailing is a program where you pick a branch (not combat arms), but allows you to serve in a different branch (usually combat arms) for 2 to 4 years than going back to the branch you picked. That Finance MP is significant, I think, because I don't think they give out many MP. I'm "old Army," too, so this is all pretty new to me (we just asked for active duty and put branch preferences in, and, IIRC, found out everything at the same time; there were no interviews, branch commandant rankings, etc.), but if Finance is his first choice, and they gave him a MP, I'd recommend he go for it.

Armor: 30% - 50%. Medical Specialist: 38% - 50%. Intelligence: 38% - 50%. Note: 20% in the complete OML might actually be 28% in the "Active Duty" OML, so make sure you make this mental conversion to the complete OML during your first three years.

    68. Dec 18, 2020. #1. I have not been able to find much current advice regarding competing for competitive branches, especially the Army placing a heavier emphasis on the TAB. I have a few questions with regards to branching infantry: 1. The one thing I heard was that if you are in the top 10% you can basically choose your branch, but I was ...
