Turns out my expensive BCBSNC insurance do not cover vision exam, so I need to find a reliable and affordable place for eye exam and order contacts any good contact lens eye exam place in triangle? (Raleigh: insurance, how much) - Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary - North Carolina (NC) -The Triangle Area - City-Data Forum
It is all about the type of contact lenses you wear what your fitting fee will run. Price the eye exam, contacts lens fitting fees, and dilation via phone. The pricing will vary. Know your doctor's pricing before you make the appointment so that you are not shocked at what you pay out the door. Do not assume that their pricing is all the same.
I don't belong to Costco (and there's not one real close by)...I know that a few years back Consumer Reports said their optical dept. was topnotch, so I'm not a "snob" per se about going to a mass merchandiser for such services. I used to get lenses thru my eye M.D. but I've moved.... Thanks for all input!
Do you go to Costco for your exam/contacts if not who do you use? (San Antonio: coupon) User Name:
If you have insurance, Costco is much cheaper than local ophthalmologists, plus Costco does have good service and easy returns. 09-26-2014, 06:48 AM Art123
Costco if you have membership is also a nice place, if you can get an eye exam and get your prescription, you can order from many online places and get a deal. the other place is America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses - Changing the way America buys glasses! they might have a location near you.
The problem is my presciption hasn't really changed, but my glasses are getting enough scratches to be annoying. However, I cannot get new lenses without a new exam, and Target quotes around $225 (if I heard right) to replace the lenses (on top of the exam). I might be better off just going back to contact lenses and using the specs as backup.
I haven't had new glasses for 8 years and I'm shopping for frames at pretty much every eye dr's in town. Of course the employees engage, at some point I get asked what my health insurance is and then they volunteer how they don't like that lab.
Yup! When Consumer Reports publishes the results of their consumer surveys regarding optical services, Costco Optical consistently comes out with the top rating, which is the result of very low prices, high-quality work, and great customer satisfaction.
I've gotten glasses at Costco several times, they're actually better than the more expensive ones I got at a chain optical shop a few years ago. 02-27-2020, 07:52 AM Moonlady
