August 7, 1992. St. John Gualbert Cathedral is the co-cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Altoona–Johnstown, located in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, United States. It is also a contributing property in the Downtown Johnstown Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places .
When the Diocese of Altoona was established in 1901, St. John's Church became the pro-cathedral. It was during the pastorate of the Reverend Morgan Sheedy that the present cathedral was begun. St. John's Pro-Cathedral was torn down to make room for the new building, and a temporary hall was built on Twelfth Avenue to serve as a place of worship.
With the establishment of John Smylie's Shive Governor Works and the construction of the Lechauweki Springs Summer Resort in Fountain Hill in 1873, the Church of the Nativity planted a Sunday school which met at the resort. Robert H. Sayre was the first superintendent. By 1874 it had grown and began meeting in Salisbury Public School.

He started his career as the first Indian headmaster of Madras Christian College School, Chennai, in 1931 and retired from there in 1962. After retirement, he was in charge of Hyderabad Public School for seven years and, later, worked as the principal of Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai. He died on 25 August 1991.
