The film was produced by Catch 23 Entertainment, Killer Films and John Wells Productions and released by Fox Searchlight Pictures.
The film was directed by Jeff Wamester from a script by Jim Krieg. It is the eighth installment in the second phase of the DC Animated Movie Universe, as well as the twenty-fourth film overall, being the first part of a trilogy of films.
