I can't for the life of me find a simple damn answer. And that is, is vortex even worth using. i cant find anywhere if it actually is worth using i know months after its release i saw people saying its not worth switching yet or whatever. But it 8/30/2019. and im a Nexus Mod Manager user, and hav...
The {base} part is referring to the base directory you set above, i.e. in that case your mod archives you download would be stored in D:\Games\Vortex\Fallout4\downloads and the Mod installations (i.e. the unpacked and correctly configured mods) would go to D:\Games\Vortex\Fallout4\mods.
not to necro, but... I'm extremely glad this didn't get deleted, I was having the exact same issue with the exact same solution (my vortex app got logged out somehow and I hadn't noticed), thank you!
Please keep in mind that this forum is for help with the Vortex application only. If you're having problems with mods in-game please consult the mod page or the game forums (found under "Community" -> "Forums" in the main site navigation while browsing mods for that game).
But in the "Supported" tab in Vortex Mod Manager, I am only presented with 44 (None of which I even own.) Also, I too am having issues with Vortex not discovering any of my games even though they are installed on the same drive with correct exe file names, within the list of games that Nexus supports etc.
It’s pretty easy and there are YouTube tutorials showing how to use it so watch those. Just make sure for each mod you are reading the description on if you have to copy the files to a specific folder or if can just use mod manager. If the mod doesn’t specify then it should be mod manager safe.
There's a lot of misinformation that gets spread around Reddit about Vortex. Both it and MO2 work fine for Bethesda games. Vortex technically has more features than MO (just don't try telling a die hard MO fan that 😓). It's also the official mod manager so we have 2 Devs who work on it full time and will support you with any problems ☺️
At some point in the future we might look at providing a means to split downloads to different managers based on the game, but ME3Tweaks is the first (and only) mod manager that supports a game that isn't also supported by Vortex so it's very low priority at the moment.
A manual install of a mod for Skyrim went bad. I felt there was no way to undo the damage done, so I decided to do a clean reinstall. On Vortex, I hit "purge mods" figuring it would disable all enabled mods. After running the purge command, I noticed no change in the mod window. I went ahead and uninstalled skyrim then reinstalled skyrim.
I hate to tell you - but removing mods from your mod staging folder won't help game bloat, save bloat, or performance. The only key is to reduce the number of mods you have enabled for any given profile. And use lots of Profiles. Especially have a base profile that all other profiles can start from, with a tried and proven set of mods for the base.
