Sports Business Journal is claiming an average attendance of 17,131 for the tournament, which they also say is an increase over the average of 17,255 on Wiki that's stated for last season (or 17,242 on ESPN). Someone's numbers are funky somewhere. The Union - Mazatlan game in the quoted post announced 9,336.
Don't believe me? Check their team budgets. MLS made huge improvements but our best teams are still mid table English 3rd division. And teams like club America, Monterey, Pachuca? Yes, even the big 5 leagues have plenty of tiny, broke teams. Especially Ligue Un. And one of its historically biggest clubs just went broke.
