Hi All , I'm trying to make sense of the Vortex Scope line up. In particular , where the glass quality changes across models. Seems if the info is available, Vortex has done a good job of hiding it from my searches. I'm wondering if there is a chart somewhere that compares model glass ( and or features) .
The scope company and designs came from America. The parts (including glass) were contract made in Japan, and, where quality standards were met for that design, in other countries including China, When I first started buying Vortex, they were assembled and QC'd in America.
Much like the Vortex AMG 6-24x50, it too is only a 4x and not very short but is set at a price point equivalent to the Razor Gen II 4.5-27x56 that beats it spec wise in many areas. While the scopes may be a bit lighter and offer different reticles, part of what makes them so popular is how well they perform optically.
1) Vortex HD-E Gen2 1-6x is a solid scope, and great eyebox, for two-eye open shooting, and then moves up to 6x. 2) Nightforece NX8 1-8x. Ligther weight, withstands droping and running it over. Solid scope, but less eyebox, so more of a standard scope, but gets you to 8x. 3) Vortex HD Gen3 1-10x, one of the more popular scsopes for 2020.
This is a group within Vortex’s engineering department that works on projects to be U.S.-made/made with U.S.-sourced parts to produce the highest level of performance of any optic on the market. This Razor HD AMG 6-24×50 is, indeed, a premium...
It looks like the scopes are made in Japan, not just the glass. Overall the 3 series scopes are pretty nice for the price. Are they the Best Buy in the price range? I guess it kind of depends. The only issue I really have with the one I have is the turrets. They just aren’t very crisp and don’t have quite enough resistance when turning.
It's been explained to you before that EVERY scope in that price range is made in China. To my knowledge the only scope in existence to be truly made in America and not just Chinese parts that assembled in the US is the Vortex AMG that's it there are no others. The next step up is made in Japan and that starts around the $1000 price point.
When Vortex first announced the AMG and spoke of it's "100% Made in the USA" origins they also spoke of all the parts being sourced from the USA, does that mean the glass was also sourced in the USA, it was my understanding that this was the case; however, it did not mean that everything was made by Vortex so it's highly likely they source ...
