Hi I'm installing minecraft server version. I installed forge directly but it showed "Downloading minecraft server failed, invalid checksum. Try again, or manually place server jar to skip download". So I downloaded server.jar manually and tried it again, then it said "Failed to download version manifest, can not find server jar URL.".
Trying to install forge 1.20.1 but the installer will not open. I have downloaded the latest version of java and don't know what I'm meant to do now I have the file for the installer downloaded but when i open it it does not work.
It gives you the exact path it is trying to find the launcher in. Could always run the game and then click 'options -> texture packs -> open texturepacks folder' to find where Minecraft is actually being run from. I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

I have a feeling this is a Windows 10 specific issue because I was able to install forge on a windows 7 computer in my house but when I tried simply transferring the files over onto this one the forge Minecraft profile wouldn't launch. Whether I use the "windows installer" or the "installer" has no effect either.
