Usually this is asked the other way round, you match Optifine to the Minecraft version shouldn't matter what Forge you use as long as its 1.12.2 compatible. I've used several versions of Forge for 1.12.2 up to the recommended and always used Optifine without issue.

Hi, I'm having a problem with Forge Minecraft 1.20.1. When I use forge with mods without optifine everything works but when I add optifine it is a crash -1 (below the pastebin crash log). I have tried multiple versions of forge and when I place the .jar file "1.12.2-OptiFine_HD_U_E2" in the mods folder it either crashes or does not show up to be used in game. Forge is installed correctly every time works flawlessly and I can run Optifine & Shaders in a seperate profile.
Manual install. I made this as longer and as detailed as I could. Download optifine 1.12.2 HD G5 (I think) Go to your files, go to the folder it downloaded into, press copy on it, go to your RLcraft mod folder (you can find this by tapping on the RLcraft profile in curse forge, tapping the 3 dots and pressing "open folder") go to the mods folder inside the RLcraft folder, place optifine into ...
