The Peneda-Gerês National Park ( Portuguese: Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês, Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈpaɾkɨ nɐsjuˈnal dɐ pɨˈneðɐ ʒɨˈɾeʃ] ), also known simply as Gerês, is a national park located in northern Portugal. Created in May 1971, it is the oldest protected area and the only national park in Portugal.
The largest national park is Wrangell–St. Elias in Alaska: at over 8 million acres (32,375 km 2 ), it is larger than each of the nine smallest states. The next three largest parks are also in Alaska. The smallest park is Gateway Arch National Park, Missouri, at 192.83 acres (0.7804 km 2 ).

Twelve of the seventeen autonomous communities of Spain have national parks.
