The P1 HDK follows in the same footsteps as the High Downforce Kit that was available to McLaren F1 owners that wanted to give their cars added performance and similar looks to the GTR variant. Built off a P1 road car, the HDK bodywork replaces the now seemingly tame stock body panels, giving it GTR race car looks with extreme presence on the road.
At the moment it is a dead heat for white, Volcano Red and yellow (all with black inner panels). They are the only colours I have seen. Forget black and pink. Silver will be good, no doubt as will Volcano Orange, Royal Sparkly Blue and Guards Red. Seal grey will be OK but the P1 curves need to come out hence forget the blacks and darker greys.
The front end of that P1 is an entire 650s GT3 front end, it even has the enduro light cover present. Front bumper. Wheel arches. Canards. Front splitter. Even the panel latches. All 650s GT3. It is going to be frustrating when people start to talk about this as an aggressive looking P1.
I am excited to see what innovations McLaren put into their CF lay-up for the new P1. I would like to see invisible basic displays where the information is hidden inside the CF layer, really taking the speedtail trick to the next level. Same goes for more movable aerodynamic surfaces using flexible CF.
720 seats will fit, but you may have problems with electric seats if the car was built for manual seats. Check your car has the plugs for electric seats before you buy. Evening McLarenLife. We wanted to showcase our 6th McLaren P1 delivered. This particular P1 is painted in "Acid Yellow" which, as you can imagine, is a very bright metallic Yellow paint with slight hints of Green in it.
