Mello’s contributions as the deviant genius had a controversial reception since it defied the previously established mood of Death Note, but when examining his plans instead of his personality, there was definitely a lot of thought and some caution put into them.
Near and Mello's rivalry is brilliant and here is why. Many people assume that both Mello and especially Near are just a cop out. Saying that Near is an L clone and that Mello is a plot-device. And while I disagree with them strongly, there is still more to talk about and more to appreciate. Like for example how Near and Mello's rivalry is one ...
I think Mello is a alright character in the anime and manga, but he is a interesting character. He needs to work on being smarter. But in Death Note: Another Note he was the only good character, I love the way how he starts the prologue and epilogue. What do you guys think?
Light became too complacent and adjusted to how L did things, so Mello caught him off guard multiple times and was vital to solving the case. And his theme is great too. My very first thoughts about Mello were me thinking he was a girl for a while. Love him.
Mello was more complete I guess. Also,he could do much better on his own compared to Near. That's something people don't take into account when comparing characters in Death Note. I don't think there is an objective answer to this question, but personally I prefer Near, mainly because of his personality type.
I actually noticed that he had great success in the fandom, actually because of his style/mannerisms. Madonna made a music video (Jump) dressing like him and this success is still present today. Being DN a product of 14 years ago, where does Mello style come from, is his aesthetic that of David Bowie/a London inspired one or it has other roots ...
The author said in an interview he originally wanted Mello to be the victor and overcome his rival Near, but in the end Mello knew too much about the Death Note and the writer felt his death was necessary. The importance of his death is symbolized by showing it in only one panel. I don't understand exactly those choices, but there ya go. Reply
I would have preferred it if Mello came in to the picture before L died, to play his part in the plot more successfully. I totally I agree I think Light should've won and became god. Near sucked hardest of all. That's why I created a subreddit dedicated to hating him. It's called r/NearHate.
Mello specifically did something Near didn’t want him to do (albeit it did end up helping Near). The point is, had Near and Mello worked together, Takada’s kidnapping would have not happened. Therefore, the fake note trick wouldn’t have been uncovered, leading to Near’s loss.
How old is Mello? Question I dont know if this is a stupid question but I thought he was 15, i searched on google and it said 20 🧍🏽♀️
