I had Tikka 412S O/U shotgun. In the late 80´s or early 90´s Valmet ended the production of their 412S series shotguns. The machinery was then sent to Italy and Marocchi started producing Tikka 412S shotguns with the help of machines and knowledge from Valmet. Later the name of the gun changed to Tikka 512S, and now it is called Finclassic 512S.

Benelli now imports/services for Benelli, Franchi, Stoeger, and Uberti. Stoeger used to do some importing and is not a manufacturer but, rather a brand.
I went with my gut and somewhat limited knowledge and decided too for it. I just bought a very nice LNIB Marrochi Finn Classic 512SC 12ga., 28" w/2 choke tubes (imported by TriStar) on GunBroker for a very price. Knowing the basic reputation of the Valmet shotguns of the 60's-70's and Sako/Tikka I thought this deal was actually a bit of a steal.
Its my understanding that Valmet was acquired by Tikka during the 1980's. The design and tooling for the Model 412 was subsequently acquired by Marocchi in Italy prior to Tikka being purchased by Beretta. Marocchi continued to produce the Valmet design as their model FinnClassic 512 for some years before replacing it with an updated model 612 ...
Take it to the bank. 2 3/4 inch ammo is safe in a gun made with 3 inch chambers. In fact many big name gun makers (Beretta is one) are now making even their target guns with 3 inch chambers although the guns will likely never see anything but 2 3/4 inch ammo. You are in safe a territory-not to fret.

Tikkakosi were made in Tikkakosi, Finland by Tikkakosi AB prior to 1989, then in Jyvaskyla, Finland. They are commonly called Tikka.
