The Tristar imports being discussed were not even Turkish. On Trapshooters there has been a long running thread on the new Tristar TT15. That thread as you can guess is a real firestorm. There are those that bought them who say they are great. There are those who work on and with shotguns who say they are not.
Now, I'm eager to dive deeper into the shooting aspect and I'm in the market for a couple of reliable shotguns. Specifically, I'm torn between choosing a side-by-side shotgun in 12 or 20 gauge. I've been considering a few options like the Charles Daly, Tristar, and CZ. However, I've come across some concerns about the trigger pull on the CZ ...
TriStar is the importer for these shotguns, at one point Huglu arms was the Mfr. Generally, you get a lot for your money. When people talk about high volume shooting a cheap $5K shotgun is the least of their expenses, for the average guy that is not possible. Most people shoot 100rds a week or less and that is still $1K in ammo a year.

If you are looking for a gas 16 ga shotgun, give the Tristar Viper G2 a serious look. I did 5 trigger pulls after 100 rounds through the gun, and got 6# 2.5 oz, 6# 1 oz, 6#2 oz, 6#2 oz, and 6# 3 oz for an average of 6# 2.1oz , lifting the gun with finger on the trigger, dropped the hammer before the gun lifted off the carpet, 6#2.1 oz trigger ...
to praise cheap break open shotguns and instead encourage good inexpensive options that include Turk made autoloaders like the Tristar G2 Viper. But hey, if the OP wants a TT-15 then by all means go for it. In the long run it won't make or break him. Here is a thread from those bullies commenting on a sub $2000 break open shotgun.
CZ shotguns are a GIANT step up from Tristar's, the finish is superior, the design is superior, and the wood is superior. In fact the wood on most CZ shotguns is about 2 grades better than what is seen on a new Beretta 686. On additional plus is that repair parts are free for life with CZ shotguns.
I was in the local Walmart on Sunday morning and they have a 12 gauge TriStar Hunter EX priced at $357. I already have a 12 gauge Khan O/U and a 16 gauge Hunter EX. If this would have been a 20 gauge, I would have bought it on the spot. I like the Turkish shotguns.
I was looking at a Yildiz Legacy HP at Academy, but this Tristar had pretty much the same features for about $100 less, and they were both pretty cheap to begin with. It's 20 gauge, 26" barrels, fiber optic front with no mid-bead, 5 extended chokes, mechanical instead of inertia reset selective single trigger.
Do those people like the Tristar TT-15 out there . . . There was also a post that the clay shooting community is apparently getting smaller and less shooters start or show up Doesn't surprise me if these guys are the first ones you meet as a rookie and when you arrive in their squad What an attitude . . . omg . . .
