I think the question is self explanatory. But, When I installed Mcafee Total Protection a long while ago, I think it put a secure search thing into my search engine list, and when I remove it, the option to "Restore Defaults" becomes clickable and if I click it, Mcafee's Secure Search is brought back???
I used Edge to download the installer, but then shut the browser off before installing. After installation, I opened up FF and the secure search box did appear on the bottom right. However, when the Manage Search Engines option is clicked the list of available search engines shows Secure Search with the conventional icon: Red McAfee Shield emblazoned with white M. I am concerned this apparent discrepancy indicates that Geek Squad did not completely remove the virus.

Actually, I did that. I went into Internet Explorer and removed the Secure Search option. I then closed and reopened it. It disappeared permanently from IE's search options but it did reappear in Firefox. I was hoping that would work. I am curious why it stays away in IE and keeps reappearing i...

It shows in the search menu choices, as well as if I try and make a search it shows at the bottom of the suggested matches. I have researched it a little, and it is not related to AVG. I am currently running McAfee. I also have McAfee Secure Search not running, but it seems to not be from McAfee.
Is someone even looking into this? I have seen no activity on this post in two weeks and every time I open Firefox I have to remember to go into the options to make sure I have a secure Google search. This is ridiculous and I wish McAfee could at least address or admit the fact there is an issue.
