A user reports a problem with the camera app on Windows 11 and gets some suggestions from other users and moderators. The solution turns out to be a simple switch above the camera that was disabled.
Photos App open with blank / black screen. Just started recently and is sporadic. I have re-installed, still does it, and it is sporadic .. not clear if its associated w/ file size, type, or whatever. The app opens with a black screen (I have dark mode on). Whenever I turn on my laptop (with Windows 11), I get a blank screen. The display is responsive. I have control over the cursor. There is no issue to log in. BUT The only issue is that when I turn on my laptop, I get a black screen instead of the Microsoft Windows Spotlight background. It's been a year now, the issue is still not resolved.
The camera app is showing a completely black screen (I've tried shining a light into it) even though the webcam is working properly. I can take pictures/videos with it and the image is perfectly fine. I have tried updating the drivers, they were at the latest version though.
So on the Lenovo, if your camera has a black screen and the light is on.....there is a small slider over the white light and move it to the right...it is so small you need to feel it with your fingers and slide it to the right!! Then it should work :-) You can't see the slider, finally figured it out. Hope that helps!
When I open a jpg file Windows 10 displays a black screen. when I have the option to "Open with" and select "Microsoft Office Picture Viewer" jpg displays fine. But jpg attached to an email do not have an "Open with" option. All I can do is Open and they open black..
If you'd like to see this log file, I'd be glad to send it your way. However, all of this did not solve the problem of black display. All those photos are still black, while the rest of the images in all formats (jpg, png, bmp, tif, etc.) open normally.
