Saw AA is now calling Business/First 'Premium'. After selecting a flight, options come up for different pricing options. One for 'Full refund to Travel Credit' - the price displayed when that day's flight are listed - and 'Full Refund to original form of payment' for an additional charge. The formatting on aa.com is not the most readable, but you can still figure it out if you know what to look for. Here's a "flexible" fare with AU origin with a fee for refund (fare basis code QLX5CRN3 for SYD-JFK). You just need to search for word "CHARGE" in Penalties section. "CANCELLATIONS ANY TIME CHARGE AUD 500.00 FOR CANCEL/REFUND. "

As noted, there's a 400USD/CAD charge for refund before departure and the fare is non-refundable if cancelled after departure. You can find fare rules on aa.com after entering pax info for flight. Although the formatting on aa.com is not very pretty (EF formatting shown below is easier to read).
I ask because the DOT requires that airlines offer either a 24-hour hold OR a 24-hour cancellation period. If AA offered you the hold, they don't have to offer you the refund. AA policy is actually more generous than the DOT requires, but even if you aren't due a refund by the DOT rule, AA might give you a refund as a customer service gesture.
