    Though this thread is a little on the older side, I am having this exact same problem with Radeon HD 6400 series card. I've tried everything listed here and more. There are no new drivers via the Microsoft Update or the Radeon Site. The option for display just keeps coming up generic monitor with the highest resolution being 1400 x 1050.

    If so, on that monitor there should be a menu button, press that and look for an autofit or Aspect ration setting and see if that will be full screen at 1920 x 1080. If not, right click your Desktop and open the video card control panel and in there, look for the Aspect Ratio setting, then try each option on that settings page . . .

    You can also try older drivers in Device Manager > Display device > Driver tab > Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick. Then you will know you've tried everything in addition to Windows Update drivers. Adjust the screen resolution until it fits and looks best at Settings > System > Display.

    The laptop screen's maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080, and the monitor's maximum resolution is 2560 x 1440.
