It would be nice to see an electric smoker option for the HeaterMeater based on use of an SSR supported by a friendlier algorithm for an electric smoker. I have my PID settings that work with the existing algorithm and SSR if you ever need them. One thing to know when u go down this route is that there are a LOT of failure points.

Hi. New to the forum. I was given a Masterbuilt 30" Electric Smoker. It was free but not working. The person replaced the top controller and the heating element. I have one exactly like it so I can use it for parts if nothing else. I like to explore and find out what's wrong with stuff so I decided to try fix it.

The PID controller runs like $160 BUT it really is a whole different smoker and one that performs like similar electric smokers with PID controllers but they cost over $1,000!!! 41. Bellefonte, PA. Apr 5, 2019. #1. I'm looking at getting a temperature controlled electric smoker and while I was at Sam's Club picking up some ground beef to make some sticks I noticed they had a couple Masterbuilt MES 145S smokers for a reasonable price. I did some digging online and only found a handful of reviews that were fairly useless.

  11. Masterbuilt electric blowing breaker - Smoking Meat Forums

I believe Masterbuilt digital smokers are 800 watts & draw close to 7 amps without the added resistance of an extension cord. Wouldn't take much else on the circuit to cause it to pop. If you have the analog it has a 1500 watt element so you would need a 20 amp breaker. The smoker Sams sells now has a 1200 watt element drawing 10 amps.
