Incidentally, this is why the 3-gun shotguns with those crazy long extension tubes are still legal. That said, most common semi-auto shotguns just don't have the dimensions to accommodate more than 5 shells unless you go for the super long barrels/tubes which is not what a CQB self-defense type of gun needs: compact dimensions.
Mossberg sells them with the receiver cut and the 407 installed. 940 Pro Tactical - Holosun Micro Dot Combo 940 Pro Tactical comes optic-ready, with receiver cuts that accept low-profile direct mounting of Shield RMSc-pattern micro dot sights— for improved eye alignment and target acquisition.
I can run my Mossberg 500 left handed all day long. Doing the same with my Benelli M2's crossbolt is an exercise in frustration. The upside is, the crossbolt is the same level of suck with a pistol grip, whereas the Mossberg safety is excellent with a traditional stock, and shitty with a pistol grip.
I needed a new home defense shotgun due to a shoulder injury that does not allow my body to handle the recoil of a 12 gauge anymore. I decided on a 20 gauge, in general, then the Mossberg SA-20 in particular. My LGS said they could get one, but they were backordered at the distributor and couldn't give an estimate on delivery.
haha.. ok. so maybe its not trap, or skeet. hand tossah' and a one of those pull the string and watch em' fly ones (needless to say i don't really know what i'm doing, just getting into shotguns, joining a real place when i have some $$) the clay is going from behind us and we shoot at it when its high and far. we're useing the home deference one cause my friend has it and it was the only shot ...
dealers in MA were selling the 590 shockwave (shorter barrel version) for a while. my understanding is that they were instructed that the shockwave was considered a "pistol" by BS criteria. this is state, not federal where it's a "firearm". consequently it got blocked out by virtue of the roster. my own experience w the shockwave is that it's an interesting but pretty stupid firearm ...
Let's start with the basics, how to read a box of shotshells: Gauge: gauge is theoretically determined by taking a one-pound piece of lead and dividing it into fractional lead spheres. 12-gauge is 1/12 of a pound of lead, which comes out to 1 1⁄8oz of lead. 16-gauge is 1/16 of a pound of lead, or 1oz.
Mossberg 500 forearm tubes actually come in two different lengths. Midway sells an adapter nut that will allow you to put an aftermarket forearm on one of the new shorter forearm tubes. I had to do that when I swapped mine out.
the maverick 88 is made at Mossberg's Maverick Texas plant , designed as a budget gun in 1988 to hit a price point for the entry level shotgun market. they work very well and hold up to a lot of use James Reves did 500 round test that a number of the turkish guns failed a couple years ago when he talked to Mossberg they were like no problem
I traded my other shotgun with a sling off toward a SWEET Browning Citori (no regrets at all) but now I only have my Mossberg 835 tactical turkey with an xxfull choke. If I were to buy just one choke tube for that, should it be a mod or full to shoot #4 buck out of. Willing to try couple...
