The item was Soulbound. If you trade an item away, the appearance will be removed from your Wardrobe. Similarly, using an appearance will remove any pending trade or refund timers. Your character was able to equip the original item. A druid wouldn't be able to unlock the appearance of an item that was rogue-specific, even if the item was leather.
