French Quotation Marks keyboard shortcut. for » , option shift \. for « , option \. In 2008 someone asked how to create French quotation marks on a Mac keyboard, which is what I was searching for this morning. The answer given did not work for me (or the person from 2008), but it got me experimenting and I found the correct combination.

  3. If you are talking about switching the spellcheck, then you change the dictionary in Edit > Spellling and Grammar > Show Spelling and Grammar. Keyboards are irrelevant for spellcheck in OS X. If you want a qwerty keyboard with french characters on the keys, then I would recommend activating French Canadian in your system preferences/input sources.

  6. English OS + French keyboard - Apple Community

    discussions.apple.com/thread/799659

English is my first language, but I'm studying French, so the French keyboard makes it easier for me to use accented letters when I write in French [since I can never remember the shortcuts or alt+numpad codes], but having only a French OS could make things difficult if I don't understand part of it.

  7. Hold down the keyboard shortcut you propose. In my case: +control option command d+ (that is all 4 keys at once). I tried your example. In French the menu item is: "Rechercher dans le dictionnaire et le thésaurus". Like you I entered. +control alt cmd d+. The shortcut is correctly displayed in the PrefPane.

  8. In the Command Editor (option-command-K) at the top right of the window enter "trim" to search. In the center pane below it should have entries for "Trim End" and "Trim Start" along with the current keyboard shortcuts (which you can add or change, as needed). It appears to be a French keyboard.

  9. I can't try any of them as my system currently has no trouble displaying the accent menu correctly, so trying any of the suggested methods won't prove anything, since it's already working. I would suggest you try the following in order: 1. Add a French keyboard and switch to it and then switch back to English (per tenderlovingkare post) 2.

Press and hold the button for the unaccented letter for a moment. A list of accented letters will pop up for you to choose from. Regards. Giulio. Thanks for your response Giulio, much appreciate you getting back to me. I may not have been specific enough. I'm using a new iPad 10.2 with one of Apple's "Smart Keyboards".

  11. French accents on MacBook Pro - Apple Community

French accents on MacBook Pro. It's really quite easy. Go to System Preferences - Region and add a French Keyboard. I use the Fr Can CSA version but there is a regular French one as well. If you want to move between FR and ENG, just tap the globe at the bottom left of the MacBook keyboard. This is the same process as on an iMac.
